It’s Priseaux, France, 1250 AD.
The river flooded again last week. The chandler's shop just burned to the ground. The once-glorious local monastery is crumbling from lack of repairs.
Displayed on the altar, the bones of Saint Foy haven't worked a miracle in years and so pilgrims no longer come from afar to see the Saint’s relics, pray, seek cures, or to fill monastery coffers. Even the Pope shuns the monastery at Priseaux.
The local villagers still come to church, but are as poor as church mice, so there’s no salvation there for the destitute, debt-beset monastery.
In short, The Dark Ages still look decidedly dim.
But when a larcenous one-eyed minstrel teaches the monks a riotously risky and irreverent way to save the day, there’s at last some heavenly light in the darkness…that is, until a rival abbey threatens to hijack everything.
"A lightning-fast farce, rich in verbal and physical humor."- American Theatre.
"A farcical romp, scintillating and irreverent."- Philadelphia Weekly.
