Enliven! Enlighten!” Miss Lettice Douffet is an enthusiastic (or some might say eccentric) tour guide at Fustian House, one of the dullest stately homes in Wiltshire. To brighten her tours, she embellishes the history of the house reinventing the truth to such an extent that her flights of fancy almost rival its flight of stairs and certainly raise the concerns of The Preservation Trust. Enter Miss Lotte Schoen, who is tasked with bringing her back down to earth. Seemingly polar opposite women, when they discover they have a shared passion for history, particularly re-enacting the deaths of famous women, an unlikely friendship develops. With Lettice bringing her late mother’s theatrical flair and family motto to everything she does, could it be that, like adding the herb lovage to enhance bland flavours, she could have the same effect on Miss Schoen?
