Red Phoenix Theatre's THE KING burns political correctness to a crisp in this brutal yet hysterically funny tongue-in-cheek attack on a man and his BBQ.

Roger likes to think he is the king of his domain then during a harmless stroll through a department store he meets Hank, a virtuoso BBQ salesman. Hank unscrupulously breaks down Roger's emotional defences, threatens his manhood, and persuades him to buy the world's greatest grill, the 'King' grill, and take it home to his wife as a gift. THE KING is a hilarious modern day roast of the importance of status and power in everyday life, served black.

Red Phoenix Theatre makes it’s Fringe debut with this world premiere by Texas-born Adelaidean, Jimmy Lyons. Lyons' play 'Alter Ego' received brilliant reviews in the 2013 Adelaide Fringe and enjoyed a long sold-out run in Los Angeles & New York.
